Our Services
Numu, which means “the people,” is the identity of our tribe and reflects YPT Human Services’ desire to serve our people.
Under the direction of Mr. Nathaniel Landa, BSW, the Human Services department of the Yerington Paiute Tribe is dedicated to the practice of social work and its discipline. Our staff works daily to seek improvement in the quality of life and wellbeing of our tribal members.
YPT Human Services helps individuals and families restore or enhance their lives. Services begin with individual or group meetings with Mr. Landa, centered on a strengths-based approach. Identifying the strengths of each client is essential for the department to arrange, advocate, and research programs for possible assistance.
General Assistance
Financial assistance for eligible Native American clients who reside in the Yerington Paiute Tribe service area. This program serves employable and unemployable clients working toward Social Security Disability or another long-term financial assistance program.
Burial Assistance
Financial assistance for funeral costs. Eligible Native American clients residing in the service area may apply by application and must meet the financial qualifications.
Emergency Assistance
Assistance when forces beyond your control — such as burnout, flooding of homes, or other natural disasters — cause loss or damage to personal possessions.

General Assistance
Eligibility: Enrolled tribal member who financially qualifies and is seeking employment or another financial source.
How to access: Application, Tribal ID, and all appropriate qualifications.
Burial Assistance
Eligibility: Enrolled tribal member who financially qualifies. Payment shall not exceed the indigent established rates.

Emergency Assistance
Eligibility: Damage due to burnout, flooding of homes, or other natural disasters.

Where do I get an application?
Applications are located in the entrance way of our building. All staff at the Human Services building can help you get any application you need. We have applications for Human Services, Home Visitation, Law Enforcement, and the Court.

YPT Human Services works closely with other professionals — school counselors, medical professionals, senior center personnel, and other public, state, and government agencies — to ensure our outreach for tribal members and community members is obtainable.
