About Tribal Law Enforcement
Serving the YPT community with policing and safety services since 1981.
The Yerington Paiute Tribe Law Enforcement Program delivers law enforcement programs and services that administer the Tribe Law and Order Code and address community priorities, cultural values, and safety needs. Under PL 93-638 contracts, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Law Enforcement Services program provides uniformed police services, telecommunications and dispatch, and additional law enforcement and community support services.
What We Do
Policing Services
Continual law enforcement and prevention services across all reservation and trust properties, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, enforcing Tribal criminal, traffic, and ordinance laws and protecting private, public, and government property.
Safety Services
Programs and oversight of community events designed to prevent accidents and monitor for crime and delinquency.
Community Outreach
Participation in Tribal events such as the Health Fair, Earth Day, Pinenut Blessing, and Fun Runs to build awareness and positive interaction between officers and the community.
Dispatch Services
Reach Law Enforcement through 911 for emergencies, or (775) 309-7632 for non-emergency needs such as citizen complaints, court processes, and reporting.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many animals am I allowed to have at my home?
Three (3) dogs or three (3) cats. Chickens are acceptable, but barnyard animals may not be kept by households except for Ranch assignments.
What time does noise enforcement begin?
Noise enforcement begins at 10:00 PM.
When can I burn?
Burning is permitted between 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM and as determined by the burn season. Burn season is generally September through March and is not allowed during seasonal or other fire restrictions.
