Programs and Services
Empowering Generations Through Learning
The Yerington Paiute Tribe Education Department and Library supports tribal members and families through educational services, cultural learning, and community programs for all ages – from Pre-K through 12th grade academic support to adult education, scholarships, and a tribal library with culturally relevant books, computer access, and programming focused on Paiute culture, language, government, and history.
Higher Education Program
BIA-funded scholarship assistance each semester for enrolled tribal members attending accredited colleges, universities, and vocational institutions.
Adult Vocational Training
BIA-funded assistance for tribal adults pursuing certificates, licenses, and workforce credentials that lead directly to employment.
Johnson O'Malley (JOM)
Supplemental support for tribal descendent students in preschool through high school - tutoring, school supplies, cultural activities, and enrichment.
YPT Tribal Library
Free public internet and computer access, a culturally relevant book collection, and cultural classes - funded by the IMLS Enhancement Grant.
After School Program
A safe, supportive environment each school day with tutoring, cultural activities, and recreation - funded by ITCN CCDF.
Summer Program
Academic enrichment, cultural activities, and recreation that keep students learning, active, and connected all summer.
What We Offer
- Adult Education Services - High School Equivalency/GED connections, workforce readiness, and life skills training.
- IEP advocacy and academic support for Pre-K through 12th grade students.
- Summer youth employment opportunities.
- College and career readiness services.
- Backpacks and school supplies for community members at the start of each school year.
- Help with school-related (LCSD) sports fees on some occasions.
- Tribal publications focused on Paiute culture, language, government, and history.

FAQs
How do I apply for the scholarship for college?
Please download the application from the forms available and follow the instructions to submit. Applications are being revised - contact the Education Department for the current forms.
Can I get assistance with school supplies?
YPT Education supplies backpacks and school supplies to community members at the beginning of the year. If your student needs additional supplies, please contact the Education Specialist for your age group to make a request.
Can you help pay for sports fees?
YPT Education is able to help with fees for school-related sports on some occasions. Unfortunately, extracurricular sports not facilitated by LCSD are not allowable - this includes Walker River Little League, Desert Fish Swim Team, AYSO Soccer, etc.
