Native American Preference

The Yerington Paiute Tribe applies Native American Preference in employment in accordance with the Tribe’s Personnel Policy and applicable Tribal and federal law.

Eligibility for Native American Preference shall be determined by providing documentation of membership in, or affiliation with, a federally recognized Tribe. Applicants requesting preference must submit acceptable Tribal membership or affiliation documentation with their employment application. Failure to provide the required documentation may result in the applicant not receiving preference.

Conditions of Employment

Depending on the position, employment with the Yerington Paiute Tribe may be contingent upon:

Verification of identity and authorization to work through completion of the Employment Eligibility Verification Form (Form I-9)
Successful completion of a criminal history and background investigation
Compliance with applicable federal, Tribal, grant, licensing, or program-specific background requirements
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening, when required
Verification of education, licenses, certifications, employment history, and professional references
Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, when driving is an essential job duty
Successful completion of the applicable introductory or probationary period
Compliance with all Yerington Paiute Tribe policies, procedures, codes of conduct, confidentiality requirements, and conditions of employment
